At Rudolph and Hellmann (R&H), we believe our success is built on a culture that prioritises people. Our leadership team is a testament to this philosophy, having largely risen through the ranks by working across various roles to reach their current positions. This ‘Home Grown Timber’ approach is a key differentiator between R&H and other third-party logistics providers (3PLs). We recognise that those doing the job every day are in the best position to identify opportunities for improvement, which is why we are currently consulting on the introduction of an employee ideas scheme.
A Platform for Employee-Driven Innovation
The concept of the Ideas Scheme is designed to harness the knowledge and expertise of our workforce. It provides every employee with a structured way to submit ideas for improving operations and processes within their facility. Whether it’s an enhancement to efficiency, safety, or quality, every idea has the potential to make a meaningful impact.
How It Works
The submission process is simple and transparent. Employees can submit their ideas through an online form on our website. Each idea then enters a 90-day evaluation process, ensuring that every submission receives careful consideration. This process consists of:
- Steering Committee Check – A preliminary review to assess the feasibility and relevance of the idea.
- Impact Assessment – A deeper analysis to determine the potential benefits and implementation requirements.
- Decision Phase – A final verdict on whether the idea will be implemented, along with an explanation if it is not.
Throughout this process, the person who submitted the idea is kept informed via email updates, ensuring transparency and engagement.
Recognition and Rewards
R&H values the contributions of our employees, and the Ideas Scheme ensures that those who submit successful ideas receive the recognition they deserve. If an idea is approved and implemented, the individual or team responsible earns reward points based on the impact of their idea. These points can be exchanged for rewards aligned with the value the idea brings to the business.
Even if an idea is not initially selected for implementation, it is archived for future reference. If a similar idea is successfully implemented later, the original submitter may also be eligible for a share of the recognition and rewards. This ensures that all contributions are valued and considered over time.
Employee Consultation and Continuous Improvement
The Ideas Scheme is currently undergoing a consultation phase, where we are actively engaging with employees at all levels to gather their insights and feedback. This collaborative approach ensures that the scheme is practical, effective, and beneficial to those who use it most.
A Culture of Respect, Innovation, and Opportunity
At R&H, our leadership team fosters a work environment where respect, innovation and opportunity thrive. We understand that great ideas can come from anywhere, and we are committed to providing a platform where every employee has the opportunity to contribute to our continued success. By empowering our people and embracing continuous improvement, we strengthen our position as a leading logistics provider and a valued partner to our customers. The Rudolph and Hellmann Ideas Scheme is more than just a process—it’s a commitment to our employees and our future. We look forward to seeing the innovative ideas that will drive us forward together.
